I began working on a new Prototype! This is based off of the metroidvania genre with abilities to collect and a big world to explore! Of course, this is the start of the project, after being worked on for a few weeks.
Starting this new project has allowed me to implement features such as C# events and interfaces much earlier into the project pipeline, allowing for a smoother ride of implementation into the future.
Currently, there are jump and attack upgrades to collect, and a starting area for some basic exploration and to teach the main mechanics. There is also a basic tileset and early player sprite included. (The player character will look better!) I have been playing a lot of metroid lately and have loved it, so a lot of inspiration is coming from there.
In the next couple of weeks, the plan is to finish the player character’s basic moveset (Almost done) and then add some enemies for the player to fight. That way, the game can feel a lot more complete. I’d also like to implement sound effects, so that there is a fully rounded prototype experience here that I can upload for people to play. Stay tuned for when that becomes available!
