Throughout the past few weeks I’ve been working on a Godot project with a couple of teammates. While I specialise in Unity work, I’ve wanted to try out Godot and so we decided to work on this project together.
It’s been lots of fun learning Godot and GDScript. The node base of Godot is very interesting and is a lot more flexible that Unity is, and I’ve picked up on the power of signals very early. Working in GD script rather than C# has also been fun, it’s obvious but the languages are very different and I find myself needing to research the syntax for basics I’m already overfamiliar with!

The game itself is inspired by the Warioware series, as well as indie titles such as Mindwave. The game will simulate a desktop and have each minigame pop up as a window. Currently, we have created 5 different minigames and it rotates through the 5, accumulating scores as you win. We wanted to experiment with Godot as it was our first time using it, so we settled on this minigame format to experiment with different forms of input and ideas quickly.

The game is still a ways of from being finished but we would like to have something playable by the end of the month, and I will make a new post here when the time comes!
Thanks for reading! The video above will give you a full playthrough of the current build, though we are using lots of placeholder sounds and assets at the moment.
